GVA Seal Greece Volunteer Ambulance Ambulance

Non-Emergency Services

  • First aid for minor injuries. People coming to the GVA base at 867 Long Pond Road (north of English Road) or calling 911 are treated for minor injuries. Occasionally, our base is unmanned but there is a phone at the front door to call 911 for assistance. There is no charge from GVA unless a patient transport becomes necessary.
  • Blood pressure. Taken at the base without charge whenever a crew is available.
  • Crutches, canes and walkers. Loaned without charge to Greece residents who come to the base. For other medical equipment, contact the Greece Lions Club at 865-6386, between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm.
  • Medical assistance. We can provide help for people who have fallen without injury or who need assistance from a car into their home. If we have people available at our base, we'll be happy to come to assist you, but this service is not always available. We can be reached by calling 227-2073, ext. 2. We are able to provide this service only in the North Greece and Lake Shore fire districts. Remember that if your need becomes urgent, you can always get help by calling 911.
  • Transport by ambulance from hospital to home or hospice. Must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance so a special crew can be scheduled. There is a charge for this service. Call 227-2073 ext. 2.
  • Standby at events. With pre-arrangement, an ambulance and crew will stand by at local events. We have a golf cart to cover a large area not accessible to an ambulance. We are limited to events in the North Greece, Lake Shore and Ridge Road fire districts. There is no charge unless a patient transport becomes necessary. Call 227-2073 ext. 2.
  • Ambulance demonstrations. Special arrangements can be made for tours of the GVA base or for an ambulance to go to a school, nursing home or other group facility to acquaint people with the ambulance and equipment. Call the base at 227-2073 ext. 2 for information and to make arrangements. No, we do not have fire engines.
  • Speakers. Speakers can be provided for your meeting or event. Call the base at 227-2073 ext. 2 for information and to make arrangements.
